The instrumentation is the "eye" of the control system. Due to the harsh application environment and many influencing factors, the ore dressing process has high requirements on the instrumentation. Whether the instrumentation is applicable or not is often the key to the success of the control system. At present, most of the instruments for mineral processing automation have been localized, and the performance and quality are close to the international advanced level.

2 Mineral flow detection

The detection methods of mine flow mainly include electronic type and nuclear type. These two flow detection instruments account for most of the existing ore flow detection instruments in China. The flow detection of ore is generally carried out on the transport belt. The instruments used to detect the ore flow mainly include electronic belt scales and nuclear belt scales.

Under the premise that the conditions of use can be met, the accuracy of the electronic belt scale is much higher than that of the nuclear belt scale. As far as installation and maintenance are concerned, nuclear belt scales have a clear advantage. For places where the measurement accuracy requirement is higher than 1.0, the nuclear belt scale should not be used. When the necessary conditions for the selection of the nuclear belt scale are not fully satisfied, the accuracy of the use of the nuclear belt scale can only reach 2.0 or worse. Before using the nuclear scale, the user must go to the relevant department to apply for a “nuclear product use license”.

3 Water flow detection

There are many types of water flow detection instruments and the most mature technology. Since the production water of the concentrator contains more or less muddy sand or other debris, the current water flow measuring instrument for beneficiation mainly uses electromagnetic flowmeter.

Principle: The electromagnetic flow sensor is based on Faraday's law of electromagnetic induction. When a liquid fluid or a liquid-solid two-phase fluid having a certain conductivity is used as a cutting magnetic field in a magnetic field, an induced electromotive force is generated in the conductive medium, and the magnitude of the induced electromotive force is detected to calculate the flow rate.

4 concentration detection

At present, for the detection of slurry concentration, the most used ones are nuclear density meters, and a small number of products such as heavy float concentration meters. Due to its convenient installation and maintenance, the nuclear density meter can realize non-contact detection and high detection precision. In recent years, it has been dominant in the detection of mineral concentration.

Using the detected concentration of the densitometer classification overflow, and thus indirectly detecting fineness, this method is widely used in metal ore beneficiation.

5 fineness detection

A meter that detects particle size is often referred to as a particle size analyzer. According to different test principles, it is divided into sedimentation particle size analyzer, sedimentation balance, laser particle size analyzer, optical particle counter, resistive particle counter, particle image analyzer and so on. At present, the most commonly used and applied effects are laser particle size analyzers and particle image analyzers.
