Using Fast Heat Treatment Technology University of Waterloo introduced a durable lithium battery

Researchers at the University of Waterloo in Canada recently released a study that used Flash Heat Treatment to overcome the high energy density of silicon anode lithium batteries but with poor cycle life.

At present, the study of silicon anode lithium batteries is generally believed that the biggest problem with this material is poor durability. However, a study by the University of Waterloo states that after the silicon anode is treated for 20 minutes at 900 degrees Celsius, the lithium battery produced can be cycled more than 500 times with no significant attenuation in energy density.

In an article entitled "Engineered Si Electrode Nanoarchitecture: A Scalable Postfabrication Treatment for the Production of Next-Generation Li-Ion Batteries," entitled "Engineering Si Nanostructured Electrodes: The researchers said the introduction of this innovative and cost-effective rapid thermal processing technology, the silicon anode reprocessing, can improve lithium battery performance and cycle life.

The article said that after rapid heat treatment, the interface of the silicon material contacts, SiO2 / C coating and conductivity have greatly improved. At the same time, the initial cycle efficiency of the electrode reaches 84%, and the number of repeated batteries reaches more than 500 times. Therefore, the rapid heat treatment technology for the next generation of lithium battery production possible.
