Under normal circumstances, Shandong Power Grid has a power shortage of about 1 million kilowatts during peak hours. Considering the influence of uncertainties and unstable factors such as coal supply, external power input, and extreme weather, the maximum power gap in Shandong Power Grid may reach 3 million kilowatts to 4 million kilowatts. At the same time, due to the changeable climate in summer, more severe weather such as storms and thunderstorms will increase the impact on the safe operation of the power grid.
In this exercise, due to the heavy storm weather, a fault occurred at the Qingdao-I converter station and caused a trip of the 500-kV Huade and Hualing lines. After the “failure†occurred, Shandong Power Grid immediately initiated the emergency response of a normal power outage, 2.7 million kilowatts of emergency load was removed, and all generator sets of all rotary standby units and Taishan pumped storage power stations were turned on. After full repair, the power outage of the power grid basically recovered.
