Optimized design of 230,000 tons VLOC for Longxue Shipbuilding

On March 6, Longxue Shipbuilding Co., Ltd. held a 230,000-ton VOLC optimization design project design report meeting. Wang Yi, deputy general manager of the company, and Chen Kefeng, assistant to the general manager, attended the meeting. The company's R&D department reported on the design of seven types of ballast tank optimization, gangway layout, ballast tank PSPC, airship weight control, building optimization, turbine design optimization, power station configuration and auxiliary system optimization. Participants conducted in-depth discussions on various topics and formed the optimization direction of the project.
The 230,000-ton VLOC is one of the company's main ship types. It has been completed and delivered to 11 ships. It has been well received by the market and was awarded the 2010 global classic ship type. However, the new rules and regulations that have been in force in recent years have placed higher demands on some designs. In order to maintain the market competitiveness of the ship type, the company decided to optimize the ship type. Based on the company's existing 230,000 tons of VLOC, the ballast tank layout, structure, propellers, etc. are optimized under the premise of keeping the hull line shape unchanged, and the main engine is re-selected to further reduce fuel consumption and meet the latest requirements of EEDI. At the same time, the ballast water treatment device is installed to meet the upcoming BWM convention; further reduce the weight of the empty ship and optimize the turbine and electrical system.
At present, the R&D department has initially completed the design of the project and listed the basic design plan. It is expected to complete the basic design by the end of March.
